Come hear Dr. William Cohen, PhD, Major General, USAFR,Ret. who is president of the Institute of Leader Arts and is a VP of the Peter Drucker Academies of China and Hong Kong.  He is the author of more than 50 books on leadership and management which have been published in 22 languages. Dr.  Cohen was a rav seren (major) in the Israeli Air Force in squadron 120 and flew in the Yom Kippur War. Dr. Cohen holds a B.S. in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and an M.A. and PhD in management from the Claremont Graduate University.

Dr. Cohen is one of only two living American general officers who served and fought in foreign air forces. He has spoken several times on leadership at the University of Haifa and for the Israel Defense Forces.

Cohen has taught the graduate schools of California State University Los Angeles, the University of Southern California, Trident University, and the Peter Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, and the Peter Drucker Academies of China and Hong Kong. He has also conducted leadership seminars or spoken on leadership for all four U.S. military services: the Air Force, Navy, Army, and Marine Corps as well as speaking at the Air War College, Industrial College of the Armed Forces and the Canadian Armed Forces College and many corporations and trade associations.

He has held executive positions in several companies and was president of two private universities. In addition to his B.S. in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he has an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and an M.A. and Ph.D. in management from Claremont Graduate University and is a distinguished graduate of the Industrial College of the
Armed Forces in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Cohen’s awards include the Outstanding Professor’s Award at California State University Los Angeles (1982), the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge George Washington Honor Medal for Excellence in Economic Education (1985), and California State University Los Angeles Selectee for the Statewide Outstanding Professor Award (1996). In 1999 he was named one of four “Great Teachers in Marketing ” by the Academy of Marketing Science among nominees from around the world. In 2002 he received an honorary doctorate in humane letters from the International Academy for Integration of Science and Business in Moscow, Russia.

Cohen was the 2006 Goolsby Distinguished Visiting Professor in Leadership at the College of Business Administration at the University of Texas at Arlington. He is the recipient of the 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Service Award from Claremont Graduate University. His military awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and many others. Cohen has served on various city, state, national, corporate, and trade boards and boards of directors.

He has spoken around the country for Machal, Jewish, and Israeli groups regarding the history of Jews in the U.S. armed forces and will speak about such little known facts as:
• The first class graduating at West Point in 1802 was 50% Jewish
• The first Jewish “flag officer” (general/admiral) in the U.S. was in the War of 1812.
• There were Jewish generals in both the Union and Confederate Armies during the U.S. Civil War
• The U.S. Military Service that has had the most 4-star Jewish generals
• That the current U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff is Jewish.
